High-tech solutions are playing an increasingly larger role in the American service truck industry. One of the most noticeable impacts is the creation and adoption of programmable logic control (PLC) systems. These European-style systems give operators greater control and improved safety features by incorporating multiple sensors and user feedback functions through proprietary logic programming.
THE FUTURE OF CRANE OPERATION
The VLC™ system has revolutionized safe crane operations to allow for more control of capacities throughout the load operation. Notable product features include vehicle stability and grade indications, overload protection, wireless or controller area network (CAN) communication, safety alerts and display messages.
COMFORT AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
A radio-remote, pistol-grip controller is a standard feature of the VLC™ system for all proportionally-controlled Venturo hydraulic service cranes. This controller offers more comfort and less fatigue for operators, and it keeps going through long, demanding jobs with 60 hours of battery life. A four-line, 20-character display provides alerts, while seven two-way toggle switches and four momentary push buttons provide complete control in either 2.4GHz wireless or wired cable operation.
SAFE LOAD CONTROL
Precision overload protection keeps operators safe by controlling and preventing any type of overload on the crane that could result in damage or injuries to both loads and people on the job site. Another benefit of overload protection is a lighter-weight crane, which increases payload capacity on your service truck.
REAL-TIME SCREEN UPDATES
An LCD display on the VLC™ controller gives real-time load and status updates showing the percentage of load, boom angle in degrees and percentage of total capacity during crane operation. These messages also warn the operator of any conditions influencing the manipulation of a load.
STABILITY FOR IMPROVED OPERATION
Vehicle stability and grade control are another function of the versatile VLC™ system. By monitoring the vehicle’s position on the ground, this feature creates more effective crane operation and improved safety for the operator during use.
