Venturo offers a variety of telescopic service cranes which are described by NTEA as “identified by its telescopic boom, a service truck crane’s base and mast structure is not integral to the stabilizer/outrigger system. Lifting is typically accomplished via a winch (electric or hydraulic), and its functions (rotation, elevation, telescoping) are either powered or manual. These machines tend to have relatively shorter boom lengths (10-35’) and lower capacity (1-7 tons) as compared to other telescopic boom-fixed cab machines (e.g., boom trucks, carry deck cranes). Additionally, operations are usually conducted by the use of radio remote or pendant control with the operator standing on the ground following the load.”

Although an operator might only occasionally use their crane, sometimes the job would require that the crane winch run longer than a couple of minutes continually. The key component to determining whether an operator should use an Electric-Hydraulic crane of a Full-Hydraulic crane is how often the crane is used during a 1-hour time period. Determining the correct truck size for a Venturo service crane.
Recommended GVWR ratings are listed on the back of all Venturo literature. This is an important part of writing a spec for a service crane to be mounted on a work truck. Each Venturo service crane has a minimum allowable GVW in which to install a service crane. This is dependent on the amount of load a crane will pick up, the reach of the crane, the weight of the crane and the use.
